A denim rug.... I thought it would be a super quick project with a cute result. Little did I know this "quick" project would turn into a 4 month ordeal. As I near the end I don't regret one minute of the many hours I've put into this 5 by 5 masterpiece!! I wonder how many strips of denim i have cut for this thing!!!... then again.... I don't even want to know :)

So i just remembered that I have a wedding next weekend! Most of the time I get excited for these sort of events, not because it is a wedding (because i honestly hate weddings) but I'm get gitty because a special "event" gives me a reason to make something new to wear.
Since time is short to decide what to make, I have been scrambling online to find inspiring pictures. The toughest part is the fact that it will probably below zero temperatures, so wearing something cute is going to be a challenge. And I really don't want to be one of those girls who wears a cute dress with a NASTY cardigan over it. (yes, you know what I'm talking about!)

pAINT sPLATTER bLAZER: Splattering white paint onto a black boyfriend blazer, what could be easier than that

kNIT cUTOUT dRESS: I think adding a slight cutout at the waist of this basic knit dress is a super cute easy update to what would be a basic knit preachers wife dress

bRAIDED sWEATER hEADBAND: I saw Rumi from FashionToast wearing what looked to me like a braided sweater knit headband from Forever21. After searching the site for it, I was only able to find a different "braided knit" version of it. This is another DIY project that would be easy to make with a little elastic, and some fabric remenants.

sTUDDED sNEAKERS: Although I have had a hard time finding square studs to use on other projects I've been working on, this is another simple idea to update a basic white sneaker

bRAIDED rIBBON&cHAIN bRACELET: I found this bracelet for sale at Urban Outfitters, but thought that this might also be an easy DIY project.

gLITTER sNEAKERS: Spray glue and glitter...need I say more

lEATHER sTUD rING: Easy DIY project that you could do with leather remenants, and left over studs

dESTRUCTED tEE: This destructed look was everywhere for a while, and is quite easy to DIY. It is a lot easier than it looks, but also takes a lot more time to do than you would think. All you need is a Hanes Tee, and something sharp (i used a seam ripper) to separate every single peice of yarn that was used to construct the tee. Luckly the results are well worth the time spent making it!

To my suprise, a few days later I was looking on style.com and found Leighton Meester wearing a dress that was somewhat similar to mine. I was glad to see the same sheer fabric on the hem in this Preen dress since I could not decide if it would look good or not when I was making mine.

Ok, I know, I've been gone for quite a long time. I hope you haven't given up on me! Going through a few changes, but it's gonna be alright. Meanwhile, I've been so inspired for some odd reason! I finally have taken pictures of a few of my newest endeavours. These pics are of my DIY version of the ultimately famous Alexander Wang sweater from his Spring 09 collection. I paired the sweater with some shredded nylons, but it is a little hard to see them. Everyone who saw what I was doing with this old mens sweater thought I was crazy, but I know there will be a few of you fellow fashionistas out there who will appreciate!

The dress I planned on making was something similar to this simple strapless dress I found on instyle.com worn by Nikki Hilton. It has taken me a while, but I finally finished one dress I had planned on making, and one that I just kinda came up with. I've begun this obsession with pastel colors. Maybe with a little tan, and if I dyed my hair brown, these dresses would be more flattering and not fade me out as much as they do. The pink party dress turned out a little more scandalous than I had anticipated, but other than that, I am really satisfied with how it looks.

Winter Coat

Shopping at Goodwill a few weeks ago, I found this amazing Christian Dior coat. I love the collar of it, and have been wanting to make a coat similar to this one for a long time. It needs new buttons because one is missing, and I also am planning on making some mittens and scarf to go with it for this winter. I'm still debating on what colors to use for the mittens and scarf. Any suggestions what would look best with the navy blue coat? I tried to take some pictures wearing it, but it looked black in all the pictures, so I opt for just hanging it on a chair so I can show off all the design details of the coat.

Here are a few pictures of the final product of my pillow project. ( tongue twister) I'm planning on either making or buying two more darker colored pillows to finish it up. Also, I would either like to buy or purchase some sort of throw blanket to go with the pillows. Any ideas on what to put behind my couch? There are vaulted ceilings, so the walls are very large, and extremely bare!

So I've heard my devoted fans have been dying for me to update my blog. (Leah ;-) I finished my pillows, and they turned out much better than I had anticipated. I do admit, it was much tougher fabric to sew together than I had imagined though! Now I am on the verge of making a few dresses. I want the one to have the top of the dress that Lauren Conrad wore at "The Hills" season 4 premiere this year. For the bottom, I was thinking of using tooling. I kind of like the idea of a little party dress that resembles what Carrie wore on the opening credits of Sex in the City, the first few seasons. The second dress is more of a Victoria Beckham inspiration. Fitted throughout, with a sheer fabric for the boat neckline and straps. My original plan was to have it all in black. Unfortunatly, I do not have any sheer black fabric on hand, and was thinking of possibly using this sheer mustard yellow curtain fabric I found in my fabric collection. I'm starting on the other one first, so I have a little time to think. Still working on improving my sketches, but these will do for now.

The dollar store actually has everything that you might every possibly need. While shopping the other day, I decided to purchase these placemats. Instead of using them for their original purpose, the idea is to try sew them together to create pillows to put on my couch. It'll be exciting to see if this actually works or not.

These are clips from Elle magazine of hair and makeup that I would use for my runway hair and makeup if I were ever to have my own fashion designs in a fashion show. The hair found in many of the fashion shows from last season in my opinion is just as much of a part of the art of fashion as the clothes are. Granted, the clothes are the main focus, but hair and makeup complete the look. You should definatly check it out at style.com if you haven't already.
